THE BRIEF

In late 2023, Hethel Innovation approached Treefrog with a unique brief: create a short, engaging video (2–3 minutes) to raise awareness of the benefits of seaweed cultivation in East Anglia. They also wanted to highlight the collaborative nature of the project, which brought together a range of partners including UEA, Norfolk Seaweed, CEFAS, and Biotechnica.

OUR APPROACH

From our very first meeting, it was clear that this project had potential beyond a simple explainer video. The environmental significance, the collaborative partnerships, and the regional impact all pointed toward a bigger story waiting to be told.

We proposed extending the runtime and taking a more narrative-driven approach to showcase the true scale and importance of the initiative. Hethel Innovation welcomed the idea, and together we shaped a longer-form video that captured the spirit of innovation and sustainability at its core.

THE PRODUCTION

Over several weeks, we travelled across East Anglia, capturing interviews, b-roll, and stunning environmental shots. Our team coordinated with multiple stakeholders to ensure each organisation’s voice was represented. Despite the complexities of working with multiple partners and locations, we kept the project tightly managed and creatively aligned from start to finish.

THE OUTCOME

The final video was met with enthusiasm from Hethel Innovation and its collaborators. It served as both a promotional tool and a conversation starter, helping to elevate the conversation around seaweed cultivation in the region.

The video has since been used across events, stakeholder meetings, and online platforms to promote the sustainable potential of seaweed farming and the strength of regional collaboration.
